legends of the Old West

[edit]

In perusing various articles related to persons and events of the Old West over a few hours, I have observed and tagged examples of lengthy passages that are wholly unsupported by any sources. I don't know where this stuff comes from. I hope we are not perpetuating an unencyclopedic, romanticized and mythologized version of Old West folklore, and I encourage editors to closer scrutinize the content. Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch might be a good launching point to follow wikilinks and examine the myriad persons and events, many of which appear dubious. soibangla (talk) 06:47, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

“People of the American frontier” merge into “Social history”

[edit]

I made the prior section very early into my editing. Looking back, it could probably be combined into the social history section; that’s if it should even be in the article anymore. Roasted (talk) 01:08, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That section has always struck me as something of an oddity (or short summaries of the Time-Life Old West series). I wouldn't object to it disappearing. Intothatdarkness 12:04, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
